I’m Nicole & this is where I share my photography, which explores ideas about our interaction with the world around us.
Initially my work was influenced by my life in the cities of Sydney & Melbourne, but in the last couple of years, this has diversified to encompass broader environments, inspired by living part of the year on the beautiful island of Koh Phangan, Thailand
My work as a historian & museum professional also impacts on my photography (& vice versa). I am particularly influenced by theories of intersections of memory & history and how we construct both our built (& natural) environments as sites of memory. My images reflect the ephemeral nature of everyday life contrasted with the apparent permanence of the built environment and the spaces in between.
I find inspiration in many forms, from the ephemera of everyday life to wide empty landscapes. My passion for travel, yoga, food, family, friends & all the good things in life has made a deep impact on my art.
Who is Agrippina Maior? Well, I’ll introduce her to you one day!
